Kowalski’s Market is a family-owned, gourmet grocery store that offers organic and local produce, meats, dairy products, breads, Aveda salon products, and other sustainable groceries. Kowalski's has been around since 1983. The first location was on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. Today, there are nine Twin Cities locations including: Eagan, Eden Prairie, Grand Ave, Lyndale, Oak Park Heights, Parkview, Uptown, White Bear Lake, and Woodbury.
The Kowalskis have always had a strong focus on building local partnerships with in the community and with local entrepreneurs. We also focus on providing a good selection of organic, natural and specialty products for our customers. Another growing category in our stores is our private label brand. We take great pride in sourcing the best producers and manufacturers we can when looking at a new products. We try to use someone local whenever possible and the products need to taste really good with as clean ingredients as possible. It is also important for us to be conscientious of the environment when we are making business decisions.
Our newest store in Eagan is LEED certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). We were so excited and proud to open that store. Our stores also carry two different styles of reusable bags at a fair price, which helps to make it easy for customers. We also give customers a 5-cent refund when they reuse our bags at any of our locations.
Kowalski’s is involved in a recycling program in which we reuse, recover and recycle over 90% of our trash through programs with Aspen Waste, Endres and Waste to Energy Plants. Kowalski’s Markets are also part of an organization called MACI (Minnesota Active Citizenship Initiative). Internally, we organize our stakeholders to become active citizens here at Kowalski’s.
